Okanagan Summer

The downside of summer in the Okanagan … no skiing.

On the plus side, fresh local produce is abundant, the lakes are pristine, and best of all the wineries are creating some vintages that rival the best that France, California and Australia have to offer.

In the summer I live in Oliver with my lovely partner Christine and our multiple dogs. Oliver is the self proclaimed “wine capital of Canada”. There are 37 wineries within the Oliver rural area, most of them are within a (somewhat) short bike ride of my house. Christine and I managed to visit most of them, talked to wine makers and winery owners, and of course sampled their wares. One thing we came away with … the burgeoning wine industry in the South Okanagan boasts some of the most passionate and entrepreneurial folks in BC.

Passion is people. People who love what they do and take your enjoyment personally. Passion is what to expect from the people who take your order and the people who craft your meal.
